In Other Words...

"There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will
be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'"

~ C.S. Lewis ~

If that quote doesn't bring your to your knees right now, I don't know what would. Is it nieve to think that God, who loves me so much, would say "All right, then, have it your way.?" Oh, it's not nieve... God, being sovereign, already knows exactly what path/road/choice I will make, so in turn, He already knows what I will face by those decisions. God allows all things to occur...there is nothing beyond Him or nothing apart from Him that He isn't aware of.

When I say to the Lord, Your Will be Done, I am admitting to the Lord that His Way is the perfect and best way, and at the same time I am admitting that my will is not. I am saying that I would rather have His Will than my own. I come to the conclusion then that My Will SHOULD be His Will! Isaiah 55:8 says '"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," declares the Lord.' If I desire to be like Christ and follow Him in His ways, then I should desire His Will over my own.

Oh. Please. I know that is hard to grasp. We are fleshly people and we are human. How do you tell your girlfriend who just lost her baby to desire God's Will and not her own? How do you tell your friend who battles with infertility to desire the Lord will all her heart and to say that all she needs is Him, when everything inside her tells her the opposite? It's not always easy saying to the Lord, "Thy Will be done." But I can promise you, at the end of the day, or the end of the storm, or the end of the life, you will be closer to Him more than you ever expected. You will learn more about Him than you ever imagined. You will know even more what it was like when Jesus was in the Garden the night of His betrayal and said, as recorded in Matthew 26:39 "And He (Jesus) went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed, saying, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; yet not as I will, but as You will."'

I would never want to get to the end of the road and know that I did it my way. I want the Lord's way. His ways are absolutely better than mine.

In Christ-

Karen

Good point. I cringe every time I hear Frank singing, "I did it my way!"

God's ways are not our ways, but they are always perfect!

So true Karen. For the last several years my sister battled infertility, and what painful years they were. But now she has two beautiful girls (adopted) that neither her nor I could imagine our lives without.

God is Good.

I think that the only way we could ever help someone in pain understand the peace that comes from surrendering our will to Christ is to pray for them, and let them know we are doing so, and allow the Holy Spirit to use us as He so chooses. That isn't always easy! Blessings ~ Patricia

Great perspective! Seeking His way takes patience and release of control, not to mention faith and patience. But His way is the best, the only way! Thanks for visiting my blog. I enjoyed yours and will be back!

Your examples reminds me of Natalie Grant's song "Held".

Excellent perspective on the CWO quote! Nice to see another All Star on CWO as well. :)
